Post-surgery recovery

Waffles is recovering from foreign body removal surgery. Most goldens bounce back fully within two weeks. Follow the steps below to help her heal safely, and message Dr. Ramirez anytime with questions.

Care plan

Step 1

Activity restrictions

  • Leash walks only for 14 days. No off-leash play

  • No jumping, running, or stairs

  • Crate or small room rest between walks

  • Keep separated from other pets during play

Step 2

Incision care

  • Keep dry. No baths or swimming until cleared

  • Check daily for swelling, redness, or discharge

  • Gently pat dry if it gets damp

Step 3

Medications

  • Carprofen 75 mg, once daily with food

  • Cephalexin 100 mg, twice daily for 14 days

  • Cerenia 60 mg, once daily for 4 days

  • Set reminders so you don't miss a dose

Step 4

Watch for

  • Excessive swelling or redness at the incision

  • Discharge, odor, or open wound

  • Loss of appetite for more than 24 hours

  • Lethargy past day 2, or vomiting
